Fatigue Fridays

After what has been one of the most hectic weeks ever,
I have been looking forward to today for what seems like forever.
(ha! rhymed.)

All I wanted to do was sleep in and enjoy my day off,
but when I had to drop off my sister at school early this morning,
I knew I wouldn't be able to just come home and go back to sleep.
I decided to take advantage of the extra time and sort through some sewing projects.
I've been dreadfully un-inspired lately and I miss wearing things I've made.
So sat at my desk and though, "ew."

Maybe what's so uninspiring is the fact that my workspace is such a tragedy. My desk is old and crumby and falling apart. I always have random crap all over it and I haven't dusted in gawd knows how long.
I caught a few glimpses of Project Runway last night and their work spaces are so amazing, lots of room and prettiness!

So I got to work. I had to drill(!) some new nails into desk to get it all nice and un-saggy, fill in all the warps and holes with wood filler, and paint it.

 One badass power tool,
six long screws,
two bottles of wood filler,
sandpaper,
two cans of spray paint,
and 3 trips to Michael's later,
I was finally finished:
Now, I'm even more tired than I was before, in dire need of a shower, and have the worst looking nails in blogland.
...but at least now I'm inspired :)

No. 20 Cheetah Print Heels

I finally got to save the cheetah print heels I thrifted about a year ago. I realized this is only the second time I've worn them, which is a shame because they're so pretty, but understandable seeing as how they're a size 6 and a half and I'm a 7 and a half. With tights it's not so bad, but still, if I can find a pretty pair of cheetah print ones in my size soon (at a reasonable price) I may have to give them a better home with a friend.
If you read my last post you know that this night out was a spontaneous one, but one I very much needed after an overload of school and stress. I went with my friends Nancy (above photo left) and Misty (above photo right) to watch 50/50 but we ended up going to Starbucks, Ulta, then the movies, then grabbed dinner then went to Nancy's house where we talked and talked and swung(?) on hammocks in the cold night air and I didn't get home until 2a.m. So wednesday morning really sucked.
But it was worth it :)

(what the heck is the past tense of swing??? swung? swang? were swinging? I'd look in my AP stylebook but it's on the opposite side of my room.... so... wow this is such an awkward way to end a blog post....)

Plain to Pretty in 34 Minutes

I would like to paint you a picture before I show you how quickly I can paint my face.
It's Tuesday evening. I'm exhausted from school. I'm longingly awaiting when I can finally go to bed and sleep.
Then I realized I had a text.
"Do you wanna hang out with me and Misty today?"-Nancy

A sane person would have said,
"Sorry, had a long day, next time for sure! Ily!"

But am I a sane person?
I post pictures of myself without makeup on the Internet, so obviously not.
It's been a while since our schedules have let us hang out, so I hang out with my friends whenever I possibly can, whether I am dog tired and still slightly sick or not.
They were at the gym and wanted to go the movies afterwards so they said we all had time to get ready.
I decided instead of going in my tee and jeans combo, I was gonna make this a shoe save and look nice doing it!
The race against the clock began.

This was 6 p.m.
I washed my face and took down my hair.
 At 6:05 p.m. I:
-Ran a large-barrel curling iron throughout my hair.
-Pin curled sections while the hair was still warm.
-Stopped to eat the Carl's Jr chicken stars my dad brought me. Eating is important!
 At 6:15 p.m. I:
-Quickly applied Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer on my lids.
-Applied Prestige Eyeshadow in "Ivory" to my lids
-Blended the shimmery taupe shade from my Smashbox Eye Shadow Quad Picture Perfect into my crease and browbone
-blended the dark brown shade from the same palette into just the very corners of the crease.
-Blend blend blend. Blend again.
 At 6:20 p.m. I:
-Applied Stila's black Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in a subtle cat eye shape
-Curled Eyelashes and Applied Rimmel London's Glam'Eyes Lash Flirt Lift and Volume Mascara.
(there was a picture of me applying the mascara, but it looked like my eyes were popping out of my head so I left it out. I just had to save you from the nightmares)
 At 6:26 p.m. I:
-still wasn't looking too pretty, so I threw on black tights and a red dress I thrifted for $5. Score!
(In hindsight, I really should have ironed it, but there was no time people! Trying to beat that clock remember??)
-took down the pin curls and ruffed them with my fingers. (That bottom picture is me "ruffling," not trying to pose, which I wouldn't have time for, still racing!!"
-then I ran Too Faced Borderline Anti-Lip Feathering Pencil around the outline of my lips. (If you wear red lipstick and don't like red lip-liners like me, this is a MUST product. No lie, I never wear lipstick without it)
-then prepped my lips with some of Rosebuds's Strawberry lip balm and moisturizer.
(I'm going to go ahead and be vain here but oh my gosh how cute is that bottom left pic!? I looked like a zombie 10 minutes ago now I'm semi-cute! If I was ever on Dateline or a VH1 special I want that picture to be used, not my high-school-yearbook ones. K, thanks)
-and the best for last, Buxom's Big and Healthy Lipstick in "Barcelona."
I threw on my coat, cheetah print heels and matching vintage beret, and by 6:34 p.m. I was ready to go!

Yes, that is how awesome my friends look after getting ready after the gym.
I'd hate them if I didn't love them so much. :)

34 minutes isn't really all that bad, and I wonder how much shorter it would have been had I not kept stopping to take all these pictures! :D
