No.8 Ballet Besties

Outfit: Black Tank and Belt- Forever 21 Pink Cardigan- Wet Seal (This little beauty only cost me a penny :))

Dark Grey Skirt- Thrifted and Altered

Tights- Target

Cooperative Shoes- Gift

There is a girl I met last semester who I've grown quite fond of these past few months. After figuring out we shared a major, a passion for ballet, and a love for laughing at random crap, we've become really close and I'm so glad! Having someone else who really understand my style makes me want to put that much more effort into what I want to look like and who I want to be. Also, it really gives me inspiration to go out and take a risk because I know there'll be someone out there who'll actually notice that I'm stepping a little bit out of my comfort zone.

Like with light pink lipstick instead of my usual red!

Also, she just so happened to buy these beautiful shoes for herself online a while back, and when they turned out to be a bit too big for her, I was HONORED to be the first person she thought of.

I love them because they look like ballet shoes. I've worn them many times but this is their first official debut on the blog, as well as saved pair number 8! :) This was from the first time I wore them: ...and another time when I wore them to a concert. (Just HAD to match the pink corset top!!) And as if gifting shoes wasn't enough, she'll constantly send me video clips of ballet dances or pictures of ballet shoes reminding me how we're both going to get on pointe someday. Yesterday, when we were hanging out, I mentioned my love for mermaids and how anything mermaid-related makes my heart skip a beat, she told me about this picture and sent it to me:

And so of course I was inspired and wanted to try it myself. Mine came out really different just because I wanted a more silvery base than a blue one, but I'm happy with the final result.

I guess I'm just really happy the new friends I'm making are positive influences, pushing me to keep working on my ballet skills, my writing, and my fashion. The support is always always appreciated :)

No. 7 Mini Flashback: March 18th, 2011

I just had to do a mini flashback to the late birthday dinner I had with my friends about a week ago. It was awesome finally getting to relax with them and catch up after weeks of not having seen them. (My birthday was on the 13th, but we couldn't all meet-up then, so I moved my birthday. No Big Deal. hahaha)
Outfit Details:

Teal Top-Thrifted and Altered

Polka Dot Cami- Wet Seal

Jeans- Forever 21

Shoes- Ross

Necklace- Made by Me :)
I took the opportunity to wear this teal top I altered (It was at least 3 times my size but I loooved the color and fabric) and wear one of my many seashell necklaces. (I think all my nautical jewelry deserves it's own post really...) Because these jeans are pretty long and slightly flared, I went with these Madden Girl shoes I got at Ross a couple years ago.
Saved pair numba seven!

Earlier that day I also got my late birthday present from my sister!!

She ordered me The Kook's Konk on vinyl. :)) The Kooks are HANDS DOWN my favorite band. Heard Naive in '06 and they've had my heart ever since.

This will be the third time I've gotten this album. lol. (Bought it the first time and played it all the time. It was the only CD I listened to one summer in Santa Maria, so it always reminds me of home. Then about a year ago my computer crashed and I lost it. Bought it again and made like, 6 thousand copies. Now this version :) )

I made a little tabs to hold it up on my wall right underneath my James Dean Poster...best things to wake up to. Seriously.

Hope you all had great weekends!!

No. 6 Mini Flashback: St. Patty's Day

I don't know if 9 days count as a flashback but I couldn't let this outfit be one to just sit in a computer folder...

... plus I love St. Patty's day! Probably because I adore green. and I like to say Patty rather than Patrick cuz then it sounds like it's MY day (buahahaha.) Oh, and Irish boys with Irish acents :)

What's NOT to love, really?

You know what I also love, however irrelevant it may be to the holiday?
Getting ankle booties in perfect condition at Goodwill for $9.

I can't read the brand label on the inside but the style is called "Angelina."
(I will love them despite the fact that they now remind me of Jersey Shore :P)

I love the giant metal buttons!
I can't believe I've had them for almost a year now and this is only the 2nd time I've worn them.
Shame on me!
Coat: Wet Seal
Green Tights: Target
Booties: Goodwill
(Black tee and black ballet skirt underneath, no biggie)
In case you're wondering what I'm doing in present time, it looks a whole lot like this.

Choppin' up fabric and puttin' it back together my way :)
I'm so excited about this new project, I honestly cannot wait to finish it so I can show you.

Back to sewing!

No.5 With a Little Help From My Friends

Yes! It's true! I do go outside! :D

I figured after my brief hiatus I'd do something a little special...
...go out into my backyard!
Ha!

The alternating extremes of really hot to really rainy has been a pain lately but today has actually been kind of nice. Figuring out if you need jacket on or off was my only real problem today, which is a total blessing seeing as how this past week is going in the record books as one of the worst in my entire life.

But today was the ray of sunshine after the rain.
(eww how cheesy can I get??)
(Why yes... that is my cool kid face) :P

Jacket- Pac Sun
White Tunic- Can't remember, thrifted most likely
Jeans- Mervyn's? haha how sad that place closed like 3 years ago! Oh well they still fit
shoes- forever 21

I wanted to do a closeup on the shoes cuz technically their pair number 5 even tho I have more pics from other outfits not yet posted...
...But then my little Buddy decided he'd use this opportunity to get some attention.
(his name is actually Buddy, it's not just a title)

Special thanks to my sis who took the pics for me and my little Buddy for the added cuteness!
